Before The Fair
- Register for the fair on Handshake. Make sure your profile is updated.
- Research companies and organizations participating in each fair in Handshake and make a list of employers that you are most interested in. Employers participate in different fairs, so make sure to check out all of the fairs ahead of time! (For on-campus job fairs, you can also check ASUCD Jobs)
- Update your resume and attend an ICC drop-in advising session for feedback. Make sure to print out several copies of your resume to bring to the fair.
- Attend a Prepare for the Fair workshop to explore tips to use at the Career Fair.
- Practice your Elevator Pitch. Brainstorm a quick summary of who you are and what you are interested in. Attend an ICC drop-in advising session to practice with a peer advisor.
- Prepare ahead of time for an interview. Some recruiters may do on the spot interviews or select you for an interview after the fair.
- Dress for success! Pick out a professional and presentable outfit to wear. For quick tips, watch our Dress for Success video.
During The Fair
- Bring a folder with several copies of your resume to give to employers.
- Bring your student ID and check-in at the entrance of the University Credit Union Center (UCUC).
- Review the event map to locate the companies you would like to connect with. Map can be viewed in Handshake and is posted throughout the UCUC building.
- Approach recruiters using your elevator pitch. Don't forget to get their contact information so you can follow up after the fair.
After The Fair
- Send thank you emails to the recruiters who gave you their time.
- Connect on LinkedIn with the recruiters and companies you are interested in.
- Apply for positions you want to pursue.
